Tom Jones. What a voice. His autobiography was a bit of a snoozer. He managed to make an existence where your stage gets showered with panties nightly seem rather mundane.
whit, after a bunch of research, i'm still not sure about whether you should say "shots were drank last night" or "shots were drunk last night." there are pages and pages dedicated to this topic:
drank is the simple past, so it might work there. drunk accompanies "have" as the past perfect, and might also accompany "were" so in that case i would be wrong, but people have done it both ways for centuries. remember, language is a river (of urine, if you're drunk).
Fleabag is next on our list after finishing Stranger Things and Chernobyl recently. I’ve heard nothing but good things and have successfully avoided any real knowledge of the plot of the show. I’m psyched.
In other news, we took the 7 year old back to school shopping tonight and she used over half of her allotment on 4 pairs of shoes. Two pairs of Jordans and two pairs of Vans. I’m doing something right.
my neighbor’s have a pair of jack russells. two days ago, they killed a woodchuck. my neighbor’s kid threw the carcass in their trash can, which they put in front of their house. the entire neighborhood smells like decomposing woodchuck. ah, the smells of summer.
I thoroughly enjoy Better Call Saul. It’s a slow burn but it’s really well acted and directed and it’s fun watching the shared universes creeping ever closer. Kim Wexler has become one of my favorite characters in recent memory.
Speaking of summer, this weekend is essentially the last weekend of summer around here. School starts a week from Monday. We always start much earlier down here but the second week of August even feels early for us.
I caught the last two innings of the Yankees game, which Costas called. Fun to hear him. He was a huge part of my youth sports-watching experience, along with Marv, Rizzuto, Keith Jackson, Madden/Summerall and a couple others.
In related news, very fun to see the Yanks put the smack down on Boston. Seeing Yanks make playoffs is only slightly more fun than seeing Boston not make it.
The bigger question is how many famous Welsh bands are there?

ReplyDeleteI shoot shots, I don’t drink them. But I’m frattier than both of you.
ReplyDeleteWife and I just binged Season 1 of Fleabag. Highly recommended. Six 30-min episodes. Raunchy and hilarious.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 is better.

season 4 of "better call saul" is entertaining. i guess fleabag will be next. it's certainly hot enough to get some serious tv watching done.
