Group Participation Post

It's back to school time around the nation, and I suppose there are lots of photos of fresh-faced kidlets all over Facebook. I rarely go there anymore, so I'm missing out. So let's fill some space and brag on our progeny all at the same time.

Here are my two at 15 and 17. The one on the left is the younger, though she long ago passed her sister in height. It's the last first day of school for my 17 year-old, which caused no shortage of weepiness for my wife. That's a weird thing.

Pile on below - let's see how handsome your kids, pets, nieces, nephews, etc, are. I know you're a good-looking bunch, so give us a look at the extended G:TB family at this milestone time.

Danimal's Animals: 11, 8, 7. They are two weeks in because Florida. Happy Friday everyone! And in the last one hour, have spoken to two different work associates, one of whom dropped their oldest off to college, and the other the youngest. Message of the day - cherish the moments or whatever.

  1. No first day of school pics from me, but I do have a comment to add to TR's comment in the last post.
Co-sign on the Ramona series about Donald Sterling.
And then listen to her convo with Woj about making the series, on his podcast.
The parallels to another Donald are wild

  2. I’m halfway through The Sterling Affairs. It’s a great podcast. I do take some issue with the glossing over of Mrs. Sterling’s shittinessnas a human being though. She’s complicit and active on the racism and discrimination that her husband is well known for.

  3. In lighter news, school started here two weeks ago and our eldest also began her final year of school. My wife was also a bit weepy. Surprisingly, the kid’s been a bit emotional about it as well.

I’m currently sitting in the car loop to pick up the younger child from school (early release on Friday’s around here). Then taking the afternoon off to hang out by the pool.

  4. My kids don't go back until the day after Labor Day. Oldest has been off since May 29th. I may cry when they go back, but for slightly different reasons.

  5. Totally agree on the Shelley Sterling portrayal, especially the 5th podcast. She was complicit to some extent in a lot of unsavory business activities that enriched her.

  6. Mets-Braves is another fun one for Mets fans. Extra-innings national league baseball is a lot of fun.

  7. Anybody else super excited about CFB starting tomorrow? But also nervous because Florida is playing and you’re not quite ready to be emotionally invested in football?

    Nobody? Just me?

  8. Yes Mark, Yes! But am embarrassed to admit that I was unaware it kicked off today. More embarrassing considering who is playing and where. I thought you might be going.

Seperately, I do invite all to watch Drunk History on Comedy Central. Funny, informative, funny. Some episodes more so than others of course. A show that is typically segmented into 10-15 min lessons, it requires little commitment.

  9. Drunk history is great!

I strongly considered going to today’s game but I’m traveling to Austin for Greg’s bachelor party/Texas-LSU in a couple weeks so I decided to keep it local today.

  13. Florida was about to go up 14-3. Since the fumble inside the 10 it’s been shit.

  18. And the Andrew Luck news is legitimately shocking. Football isn’t dying but it’s future is quickly coming to a crossroads.

  19. Cane lover is a deep cut from Jerry’s Wheelhouse. Jerry had a pretty good blog. I get to drink with Jerry and TJ over two separate weekends in the next two months. And there’s a high probability that we ditch a wedding reception for the second half of an SEC game. Shout out to not completely embracing adulthood at all times.
