Game Over, Man. Game Over.

As most of you know, Bill Paxton died today at the way-too-young age of 61. He was Gheorghe's kind of actor, versatile and funny, with an ever-present hint of mirth in his eyes. He appeared in two of my very favorite films, stealing the show as Chet Donnelly in Weird Science, and catalyzing Kurt Russell's badass turn as Wyatt Earp's younger brother Morgan in Tombstone. Ironically, in both cases he played the brother of a character named Wyatt.

We'll pour a few in his honor this evening while watching the Oscars.

  1. Matt Elam likes to party. He'll make the Pro Bowl as a Patriot next year, right?

  2. Chet from Weird Science may have been the most quoted character among my high school friends.

  4. Anthony Davis just put up 24 pts in the first quarter. He is lighting it up from all over. Their game against OKC is on NBA TV.

  8. I'm talkin' about sex, boy, what the hell you talkin' about? I'm talkin' about l'amour! I'm talkin' that me and Dot are swingers, as in "to swing." I'm talkin' about wife swappin'. I'm talkin' about what they call nowadays open marriage.

  9. The dude who lived in the house behind me when I was growing up won an Oscar. Then he sold a portion of his film company and he and his family moved to Malibu.

  10. No doubt Mark, I saw your reaction. We're getting old when offers to wife swap barely register.

  11. Russell Westbrook just had the fiercest of fierce dunks. It was over Boogie, who fouled out with a feeble attempt to stop the Russ assault.

  12. Boogie is a beast but he is pretty shitty defensively.

  15. There is, supposedly, a swinging section of our town. Folks that are into it place a painted blue rock into their front yard as a signal of hell yes.

We told this story to a neighbor one night. He said it was bullshit. Well after he left that evening, a bunch of us continued drinking way too much. We ended up painting a few rocks blue and scattered them all over his yard.

His wife wakes up the next morning asking how drunk he got because there were blue rocks in their front yard. And asked if he knew what they meant. He cursed us for several weeks.
