Meow the Gheorghe

"Thank god the money is going to charity because meow the jewels is going to be the single silliest fuckin record ever recorded."

So said El-P on Twitter in January when he announced that Run the Jewels had raised over $45,000 via Kickstarter to remix their blockbuster Run the Jewels 2 record using only cat sounds behind the vocal tracks.

As mentioned recently here by zman, El-P and Killer Mike seem to be moving closer to the release date for Meow the Jewels. Fans have now donated more than $65,000 to the project, which will benefit charities supporting families who have lost loved ones to police violence, as well as animal welfare organizations.

GTB are big RTJ fans to begin with, but as you might imagine, this move hits us right in the places that make us the happiest. Sorta between the cheese place and the Muppet video place. Here's a snippet of Creown, as released via Instagram by El-P. Honestly, I really kind of like it.

  1. I never would've predicted something like this for El-P when he was fronting Company Flow. I'm all for it though.

Speaking of musicians I dig, the Florence & the Machine record is straight fire.

  2. Run the Jewels and Florence and the Machine are going to be at Austin City Limits in October. Who wants to go?

  3. Wife and sis-in-law are going to see Florence on Tuesday. I miss it because of class. I am not psyched about that.

  7. Beer drinking and grocery shopping is a righteous combo. Two specialty markets here have free beer samples for customers. When Greg is in town he goes and openly defies the two beer limit.

  8. I went to the liquor store today to stock up. They also sell cheese and sausage and other good eats and they have free samples. They had a hard fried pork sausage laced with truffles. Oooooooofah!!

  9. That sounds phenomenal. I did not know such a thing existed.

I'm all in on truffles. You could probably get me to eat a pine cone if it was cooked in truffle oil and topped with truffle salt.

  16. AC mini-summit is en fuego. Marls may have bought a round of Pappy's.

DLC, Juan Carlos, Marls, Dr. Spec, Ian, Frat Guy and others making copious bad decisions.

May the AC crew have more stories than dollars by brunch.

  20. alright, gheorghie reports staff: car leasing versus purchase. go.

  21. I have no insight on that. Sorry, buddy.

Zman, any chance of an upset special at Roland Garros?

  22. My wife remarked that Wawrinka is dressed like Rodney Dangerfield.

If the rest of the match is anything like that first game, this should be a humdinger.

  23. All bout the mileage rob. How many do you put on the car in a year? If not consistently under 1-15k depending on deal, don't do it.

  24. I always buy and hold for a long time. Or at least that's the plan.

Djokovic should win. But wawrinka's shorts though!

  25. My wife is a huge proponent of leading. I am not but we both drive a ton for our jobs these days so its not even up for debate at this point. I win.

  26. Just got to see the replay of Belmont. Historic - my only gripe is I wish there was some sort of drama to it. He led from the outset and just pulled away. Still really fun to watch.

  27. If I was a 12 k or under guy I would be a leaser....but get into the nitty gritty up front such as option to buy at term end and how value is determined. And conversely, exchange value. Need to think about the "what if" scenarios such as the need for minor bodywork or overall condition of vehicle. What sort of service is included in lease? Could be free and if it's not....ask. nobody wants to make a deal more than a car guy unless you're looking to lease an amg.

  29. Any good stories from the AC trip?

  30. i heard that only one guy needed hospitalization but that was because he was too drunk so I guess it was a successful trip.

  31. I'm still going to watch, obviously, but the Kyrie injury takes most of the intrigue of this series.

  32. just tuned in after a block party. this is interesting.

kinda torn. definitely in the tank for the warriors, but if lebron leads this group to a title, everybody is required by law to shut the fuck up about him as less than the best player ever.

  35. i've read the books. which scene was it?

    ReplyDelete
  36. zwoman says it isn't in the books yet. Unconscionable.

    ReplyDelete
  37. unconscionable? did littlefinger rape sansa?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree w/ Zman on GoT. There were actually two reprehensible scenes last night involving young women in last night's episode that seemed almost as bad as a controversial rape scene from a few weeks back.

I predict a media melt-down from a show that uses rape and violence against women as a recurrent plot device, and often does so when it's not part of the books. The showrunners will likely point to a couple strong female characters as counterbalances, but it's pretty bad.
