Patriots Day

Adding more words to the many already written about what today means to Boston seems a bit gratuitous at this point. But if you're interested, Sports Illustrated's piece this week is terrific. And if you want our raw take, here's what we wrote last year.

I've found myself emotional already this morning hearing Boston's mayor, Marty Walsh, interviewed on the radio. I'm looking forward to many more moments like that as the town and region celebrate and remember.

  1. You might remember me mentionining local to Jax, David Green last year. He took a photo that happened to play a big part in Id'ing the bombers. He was interviewed the other day on Deadspin. He owns 110% Play Harder - a local compression gear company. Good stuff. Anyway, he started the race this morning at 4:30 a.m. with a few others from here, running to the start (for the victims) and turning around and heading back to the finish with the racers. It's actually an easy one for him, having run Badlands and other brutally tough endurance races.
He and his company deserve a shout out.

  6. I gave Madmen a pass last week figuring week 2 would be more entertaining. I was wrong. They are 0-2.

  7. Ill disagree with Danimal here. I enjoyed Mad Men again. The Don and Sally scenes were great. As was the inside joke between Dawn and Shirley.

  8. Danimal is jonesing for some Bob Benson. Dan, quench your thirst with this Mad Men sitcom spin-off.

    Gimme some Betty, Wiener.

I liked it well enough, but there may need to be some incidents of consequence coming up. I don't need a partner hanging himself on the office door, but maybe Don making a new friend.

  11. Maybe I'll throw up some pictures and few words from yesterday. But if I can pass along one thing: when you are going to wait a couple of hours to run, swim or bike always bring your own toilet paper. For the second year in a row toilet paper was a scarce commodity in the athletes village for the marathon.
