Hostess, the makers of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, is going out of business after striking workers failed to heed a Thursday deadline to return to work, the company said. The Hostess shutdown will lead to over 18,000 laid off workers, and the closure of 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, approximately 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores in the U.S. The clock is ticking, though - consumers only have a few more days to load up on already baked products. "OUT OF MY WAY, THOSE ARE MY SUZY Q'S!!!"
Oh yeah, this kid's an orphan now, too. Jerks.
Let's try to remember the corporate behemoth in better times:
Oh yeah, I pretended to be an expert on South Florida men's hoops yesterday. Read it if you'd like.
"Whoopsy!" said union the leaders
ReplyDeleteUnion the Leaders sounds like an indy band Squeaky would love
ReplyDeletedoes hostess make "the chocodile"? that was always my favorite, although "ding dong" is a fantastic product name as well.
ReplyDeletescary story contest night in my neck of the woods. i hope i defend my title!
Yes, I believe the Chocodile, as well as the Ding Dong and the Ho-Ho, are Hostess products.
ReplyDeleteI bet Mitt Romney is behind this.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...strange.
ReplyDeleteI have a scary story for you - a 3 y/o boy trips in his house, hits his mouth against a bench, knocks his teeth crooked and has to have an oral surgeon remove his 4 top middle teeth.
ReplyDeleteThat story is my Friday afternoon. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
boys are a menace. hope he bounces back quickly.
ReplyDeletein completely unrelated news, my driver to heathrow this morning was romanian. we discussed gheorghe, among many other eurosport topics. he asked me how tall billy crystal is.
just got a most excellent correspondence from danimal. i shall follow his instructions to the letter.
ReplyDeleteTerry bradshaw on fox sports radio...he is hammered
ReplyDeleteI read TJs take on Sout Florida hoops yesterday. Impressive. I think. Have to be honest, I don't pay much attention to South Florida hoops, or anything for that matter. USF girls were/are pretty slutty but I'm a married type now so I've got no interest in such things.
ReplyDeletethat sucks TR. and i will use that plot for next year.
ReplyDeleteas far as this year, i defended my title, motherfuckers! took home the cash and the bragging rights.
the people will really be gunning for me next year.
dave, we assume you'll be posting the story here.
ReplyDeleteI hope t.r. Jr is doing okay today. You should get him some bling.
ReplyDeleteTR Jr now looks like Clark Gillies (google it I you don't know the name), but he's back in the saddle, being the same reckless kid he was y/day morning.
ReplyDeletestory will be up soon, along with an extra special bonus.
ReplyDeleteWatching Lane Kiffin fail never gets old. At least not yet.
ReplyDeletemaryland, rutgers rumored to the big 10. this is powerful stupidity on the part of the terps. kevin plank's $ is blinding them.
ReplyDeletemy sister went to high school with odell beckham's dad. she's old.
ReplyDeleteWas eye opening seeing the parents at nd's senior day. And by eye opening I mean depressing.
ReplyDeleteJmu's attempt at a cool helmet did not work out that well.
ReplyDeleteAny upsets tonight? I have had a feeling about Baylor for the better part of the week but probably wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteRemember....must drink when Brent says "snaps it off"
ReplyDeleteCan u tell when my kids go to bed?
ReplyDeleteso, danimal, we recommend the ron z straight up, or mixed?
ReplyDeleteIce cube
ReplyDeleteAww shit..I will have one w ya.
ReplyDeleteOr two(cubes and drinks)
ReplyDeleteStaying calm as both of these games stay competitive
ReplyDeletetribe curb stomps high point, 83-61. doing what good teams are supposed to do so far. nationally televised contest at home against miami (ohio) on wednesday. get some.
ReplyDeleteI kind of liked Baylor. Not enough to wager on it though.
ReplyDeleteThis just in: My kid loves Joey Bada$$. We've listened to it quite a bit tonight while Mom was out at dinner.
Jmu about to blow another.
ReplyDeleteRob, how we doing?
your ashington izards, still sans w.
ReplyDeletedanimal, haven't picked ron up yet - just curious.
Wvu has a great flag football team
ReplyDeleteBoth kstate and Oregon will win. Momentum has shifted.
ReplyDeleteA Dooley failing and helping tear down the Tennesee football program at the same time is about as good as it gets in my world.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on K-State and Oregon. Both absorbed early body blows. Will be much better in the 2nd half.
ReplyDeleteMark....UT? Bama? Spurrier? Kiffin? nd? Who do you hate the most and in what order?
ReplyDeleteOh man, Vols are gonna lose by 30+ tonight. Giggity.
ReplyDeleteSchools: Tennessee (by a WIDE margin), FSU and UGA equally then Notre Dame followed by Bama. Not real fond of Miami either.
ReplyDeleteCoaches: Kiffin, Saban, Richt.
And he's not been a coach for a very long time but I absolutely loathe Vince Dooley. And now I project that hate on his son.
So next week....USC vs nd? You have to root for Kiffin. How does that feel?
ReplyDeleteAfter my Saturday night BJ ('s wholesale club trip), I am quite excited at seeing these potential upsets.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Mark will feel when UGA finds its way into the championship game.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit. Baylor's INT was one of the dumbest throws ever.
ReplyDeleteYeah...Jmu lost. They r the vatech of the caa.
ReplyDeleteI'll say. There will be no upsets here unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe how bad a pass that was by Baylor. Shaping up to be a big night for my remote's "Last" button.
ReplyDeleteStanford did this same fucking thing last year w Oregon...Oregon will win this by 3+ touchdowns now.
ReplyDeleteIs the Baylor qb on the take?
ReplyDeleteI don't know, but he sure has pretty eyes.
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with rooting for Kiffin next week because a loss means he's definitely fired. I'd like him to stick around and run USC into the ground for a while.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll worry about UGA in the BCS Championship game when it's a reality. Which is to say, no time soon. No faith in Richt in a big game and an SEC Championship game versus Bama with a BCS title shot on the line would be the biggest game of his career.
Love that Baylor call to go for it on 4th. Play to win.
ReplyDeleteTo Dan's point about Stanford. They were up 21-0 on Oregon two years ago in Autzen. Lost by 3 TDs. Kansas State-Baylor looks like game of the night. Might be tough to beat LSU-Ole Miss for game of the day though. That was fun.
ReplyDeleteThis Stanford D has been tremendous tonight.
ReplyDeleteI take that back, Oklahoma-West Virginia is the current 'game of the day' winner.
ReplyDeleteI had to work an Indian-American Physicians conference beginning at 7 am. Then watched the baby all night. I'm off now and the whiskey...she be flowing.
ReplyDeleteK State is toast. And we now need to re-think our Heisman front-runner. Would 't mind Te' o winning.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Mark. Been denting my handle of Makers pretty aggressively. Sunday morning gym looking unlikely.
ReplyDeleteI just got started because their are three 11 year old girls spending the night here tonight (for a total of four) but there's no end in sight.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, time to tune in to WVU-OU if you haven't already. Barn. Burner.
ReplyDeleteHave been ignoring the okla game til now. Shazam.
ReplyDeleteFor stanford to still be in this game is very surprising.
Biased yes....but give me some te'o...
I guess i'll pour something since u guys are.
ReplyDeleteOkla wins this. My prediction
Te'o is a beast. I really like him. Not often I say that about a dormer but he looks like the real deal.
ReplyDeleteStepfan, Lache and Glasco having big games today. One first name dumber than the next.
ReplyDeleteWow. Geno just threw a gem. Crazy trio of games here.
ReplyDeleteHappiest degenerate gamblers tonight: those who bet the under in Stanford-Oregon.
ReplyDeleteAnd this OU-WVU game is largely meaningless but completely AWESOME.
OT seems inevitable. Make this 2-pointer!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget about Tavon, TR.
ReplyDeleteThe problem there is wv scored too quickly. If i could bet a few grand on this last drive i would.
ReplyDeleteOk...not a few grand but maybe a hundo or 2
ReplyDeleteAnd you're looking pretty smart right now.
ReplyDeleteOh boy.
ReplyDeleteIs that a catch? I think so.
ReplyDeleteNot a tough call to me. He landed out of bounds when he got possession.
ReplyDeleteLike the upset potential, but don't like the call.
ReplyDeleteCan you find a team that was ranked #5 after 5 games that did not end up going to a bowl?
ReplyDeleteOk,....was mistaken on the kstate prediction.
ReplyDeleteThought he had it in one arm on the way down. And yes, I'm happy this is going OT.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shitty call. TERRIBLE
ReplyDeleteIs Candy Maldonado's kid kicking for them?
ReplyDeleteLike Stanford in OT, grinding this out on the ground.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have to take Oregon here though hope I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteI retweeted Fuad Reveiz's kid tonight so I really hope you're right about Candy's kid.
ReplyDeleteRelated: Not a Giants fan or a jersey wearer but I'd wear an old Giants "Candy" or "Chili" jersey.
Nick Florence = Redneck
ReplyDeleteDucks are gonna miss this figgie.
ReplyDeleteAy caramba, Alejandro!
ReplyDeleteWow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Shit. Holy shit. Holy shit.
ReplyDeleteno one wants to play for the national championship.
ReplyDeleteKelly prematurely iced the kicker.
ReplyDeleteWho is havin a drink w me?
ReplyDeleteNick Saban has a serious horseshoe up his ass.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to act excited, Brent and Kirk.
ReplyDeleteThe Oregon fans have not moved. They are stunned motionless. College football is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSNL w/ Renner kicking off...
ReplyDeleteIt speaks to the absurdity of the BCs that with a Notre Dame loss to USC and a Florida win at FSU (not likely), The Gators would play in the BCS Championship game.
ReplyDeleteI've been in the position of those Oregon fans. Early December 2001 against Tennessee. It's an awful feeling. But College Football is fucking awesome.
ReplyDeleteLet's have another.
Chris christie on snl....our next president....if he doesnt die first.
ReplyDeleteHi Gheorghies!!
ReplyDeletethat was a preposterous evening. here me now and believe me later, usc beats notre dame, leading eventually to an alabama/florida national championship game. and an absolute supershitstorm of righteous indignation from the media. can't wait.
ReplyDeleteSettle down.
ReplyDeleteCan somebody walk me through the SEC championship probabilities? Too lazy to effort it up myself.
ReplyDeleteIs there a chance a 1-loss team can miss out on the SEC title game but get into the national championship game?
Yes. Florida beats FSU next week. USC beats ND. Florida would be #3 in the BCS behind Bama and UGA, who meet in the SEC Championship game.
ReplyDeleteAlso. I ate a pound of bacon for breakfast. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be a long week.
ReplyDeleteFruit Pie The Magician...that's a name I haven't heard in long time!!! My favorite was Peach!! Amanda Vanderpool CEO
