Gheorghe: Selection Sunday Filler

Igor emailed this highlight montage the other day, asking if I have ever seen it. Amazingly, the answer was "No." But I am glad he sent it along, because this is some Gheorghe Ghoodness. Watch it on loop as you prepare for the Selection Committee to stick it to Drexel at 6:00 p.m. ET and leave the Dragons out of the NCAA Tournament in favor of some middling bums from the Big East, Big Ten, or god forbid, the horrid Pac 12.

  8. And my only other advice for the month....for Big Brother watchers, Brendan and Rachel are on the Amazing Race and it is worth the price of admission. A random discovery born from channel surfing. Winner.

  12. Did you guys see the Simmons trade value column on Grantland? Buried at the bottom of part 1 is the suggestion that NBA teams should have a vote for GM every four years. And he suggested Ted start with the Wizards.

This is brilliant, and I really want to make this happen. I would vote for Sam Presti. But if he won't leave OKC, I'll nominate Danny Ferry.

  13. CAA folks up in arms a bit about Drexel's snub. I don't know that it's egregious, but there was one thing I didn't like: the committee chair, defending the Iona inclusion over Drexel by saying, "Iona is in the forties, Drexel the 200's." presumably he meant strength of schedule, where Drexel has an abysmal 212. (Tribe did its part to drag that down.) But Iona is 145, not in the forties. Iona does have an RPI of 44, whereas Drexel is 65. The inclusion of an erroneous, misleading stat on national television doesn't give anyone more confidence that these clowns know what they're doing.

  14. Igor, there's a quote in the WaPo today from the committee chair that reinforces your point:

“We don’t use the term ‘mid-major’ or ‘power conference’ in the room,” committee Chairman Jeff Hathaway said. “We compare all the teams irregardless of what conference they come from.”

    Irregardless???
