We've Reached a Magic Number

According to the United States Census Bureau, there are 6.9 billion people on the planet right now.

So go bang one.

  1. Quite a post, Igor. All it's missing? Rapping muppets.

  2. T. Rex would also suggest banging a gong, while you get it on.

  7. Brunswick Stew starts tonight as the 7-0 GMC Red Division Champion South Brunswick Vikings travel to snooty East Brunswick to throttle Dave's hapless East Brunswick Bears.

Then, after a playoff interlude, on Thanksgiving Day the Vikings host Dave's mediocre mustachioed Camaro-driving North Brunswick Raiders.

  8. Now that, folks, is a comment.

  9. How is it there no side bets on the Brunswick Stew?

  10. IROC or Berlinetta? This is important information.

  11. Jerry - have you seen the HBO doc on Jersey basketball called "Prayer for a Perfect Season"? It's focused on St. Patrick's but also includes a lot of stuff of St. Anthony's & St. Benedict's. I'm about halfway thru it so far. Good stuff. But that goes without saying for HBO sports docs.

  12. I'll put that on the list. I've also been meaning to watch the St. Anthony's one.

Evidently the St. Patrick's coach has taken a job with Monteverde Academy in Florida, which seems like an unusual move for the HS level. Also, New Hampshire prep schools make up 3 of the preseason top 8 this year, which also seems unusual.

  13. First time I've ever heard people refer to East Brunswick as snooty.

  14. ...though I'm sure peole refer to Dave as snooty.

  15. East Brunswick was snooty when we were growing up but it's rather pedestrian now.

North Brunswick was and still is mustached.

  16. Holy shit, we're now getting crossover comments for Sentence of Dave.

    We have truly made it.

  17. Not that big a crossover revelation, I'm afraid. Lecky and several other North Brunswick alum were streaking freshman halls hammered with Rob and me as far back as 1988.

Actually, Rob was wearing Wonder Woman underwear then. Not sure whose it was.

  18. Thanks Whit but I thought Rob wore the Canterbury Tales

  19. They'll always be snooty to me with their "EBHS" shrubbery and dominant soccer and academic teams.

  20. So far Squeaky, Team Marls, Team Russell and Danimal get to see pictures from tomorrow's race. For the rest of you, don't panic! There's still time. It's gonna be cold out there tomorrow morning, "shrinkage and headlights" as Mr. KQ put it. And I promise this is the last time I use your blog for my personal causes, though possibly not the last time I run around in my underwear. Here's the link.

  21. Montverde Academy is right outside Orlando and is quickly becoming a basketball powerhouse. They bring in a ton of out of state and foreign kids (TJ's boy Fab Melo played there). I bet that Boyle (former coach of St. Patrick's) got a major pay raise by going to Montverde. It's a small school that's built itself up by growing it's basketball program.

On the surface, it seems unusual but I'd bet Boyle has a lot more freedom, more money & much better facilities at Montverde. As an established recruiter & coach it's a good move for him.
