Post Something

That's what I was told to do...so I'll post a question, which I have asked everyone I've encountered this week as I helped @baconbaking's 17 year old sister study for her AP American History exam:

"Who is your favorite U.S. President? And why?"

My answer? This guy of course...

  1. And, no offense to Gerald Ford, the question of who is the worst president is not even close. Even a moron like William Henry Harrison was probably a better prez than Ford. But at least Ford was good at football.

  2. By the way, Mark let me know via twitter he got a 5 on the exam. As did I.

  5. TMBG reference always wins points.

They wrote one about Tippecanoe and Tyler too, but it's not as catchy.

  6. Zachary Tyler, also a bit of a douche.

  7. FDR. Social programs, ability to get us out of the Great Depression, first wife who changed the role of the first wife. I'm sending my sister positive thoughts this morning for a 5!

  10. zman, my apologies, let's save our love for international presidents until next week. How 'bout a good ole American choice?

  11. Warren Harding could make a run at Jerry Ford.

And I too got a 5 on the AP exam! Those 6 credits came in handy, as I graduated with 130 credits.

(Deciding to double-major with 3 semesters left before graduating is dumb. Very dumb)

  12. Warren G was named after Harding, right?
    /regulated

  13. Saludos TR! I haven't taken a history class since high school and as a general matter I don't remember much about what happened in the past. I'll take Al Gore as my favorite president.

  14. Or perhaps Taft. I remember learning that he was fat. And he was a Supreme Court Justice and maybe a senator too ... he pulled off some sort of executive/judicial/legislative trifecta.

  16. I think Taft is also first prez to throw out an opening day first pitch in baseball.

And yes, he was a big fatty.

  17. Guess I better get this dog off of me.

  23. Let me guess...George Washington?

"Behind every good man there is a woman, and that woman was Martha Washington, man, and everyday George would come home, she would have a big fat bowl waiting for him, man, when he come in the door, man, she was a hip, hip, hip lady, man."

  24. Which one of you had the theory that President Ford's old football head injuries is affecting the economy?

    ReplyDelete
  25. i thought fdr prolonged the depression?

  26. Millard Fillmore. Lucky 13.

But everyone's favorite is Abe Lincoln. You know it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Grover Cleveland - lost because of the electoral college before it was cool....also, personally hanged 2 murderers while Sheriff.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wasn't William Henry Harrison in office about one month? I think there's your one pathetic loser of a prez.

    ReplyDelete
  29. He was. Tippecanoe died of pneumonia. Thought a 2 hr long inauguration speech outside, with a cold, and no coat was smart. I maintain FDR....repealed Prohibition.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yep, of pneumonia...'cause the dumbass gave a three hour inaugural address in freezing cold a month earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Danimal, she's got you on the repeal of prohibition point...

    ReplyDelete
  32. danimal, i trust you gave bard's dad the url to get here

  34. You two are the Kerouac and Ginsberg of this internet locale.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sunday is Mother's Day? Am I supposed to do something in response?

    ReplyDelete
  36. kerouac buggered ginsberg, no?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kerouac did not! There may have been a rogue drunken HJ b/w the two (per Ginsberg's bio), but Kerouac was not gay. Just an impressionable young aspiring drunk from Lowell who fell into an artsy crowd at Columbia.

Now Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs on the other hand, who knows what went on there...

And who among us hasn't given a college friend a drunken HJ?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Teej - Warren G Harding hands down worst.

    ReplyDelete
  39. After reading the comments, I can now second TR's nomination of Warren G, but offer a vote of no confidence on his friendly handy position.

    ReplyDelete
  40. For the record, I never played kerouac to TR's Ginsburg.

    ReplyDelete
  41. rob - no, but i did give him the web address.

    ReplyDelete
  42. William S. Burroughs, weird guy. But it's definitely worth your time to pick up a copy of "Junky"

    ReplyDelete
  43. danimal - excellent. we'll celebrate with extensive red sox coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I like Naked Lunch. The activity more than the Burroughs book.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Danimal, sounds like Seve's time is waning. Live well, my friends.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I doubt it, but I hope at least on G:TB member other than me watched Lakers-Mavs Game 3. Tremendous effort and shot making all around. Everything thats good about the NBA.

    ReplyDelete
  47. i saw the first half. does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  48. No Rob, that doesn't count. 4th quarter was fantastic. As good as NBA basketball gets. Dirk > Kobe at this point. And it isn't that close.

    ReplyDelete
  49. but sadly he couldn't be a president but in an alternative 4rx world he can be a great president.
