The LInk Below is Not a Typo

So somebody out there thinks there is hope in the 'Burg this year.

Big thanks to official friend of G:TB SP for sending this link out this morning. He also provided the following insight that you just won't get from ESPN: "I think the Longwood and Vassar games will take the SOS numbers down a peg or two."

  3. You get a trophy for winning intramurals at W&M? What a bunch of crap? All we got at Florida was a tshirt.

I'd like to thank Carlos Dunlap again for ruining my day.

  4. Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. for driving under the influence after falling asleep at the wheel. Police found Dunlap, 20 slumped over in his 2000 Chrysler at a complete stop through multiple green-light traffic cycle. Officers reached into the car to turn off the ignition while the clutch was still in gear and finally awoke a “very groggy” Dunlap, the report states.

  5. Bruce Smith would be proud. Not exactly a great advertisement for Chrysler's engineering prowess.

  6. So Bruce Smith was in the same Norfolk restaurant we were a couple of Thursday ago, and he waved us over. When I say "he waved us over," I mean he waved my dad over because he's neighbors and acquaintances with him, and I happened to follow along. I shook hands with the big fellow (my height, with just a slightly broader build), exchanged a few pleasantries, and then we made our way to our table. Very nice guy, it seems, as re-affirmed by Dad and most folks who've run across him in recent years.

On the way out, I noticed that Bruce had finished dinner and made his way to the bar. Knowing his past history, I remarked to my dad that perhaps he ought to offer Mr. Smith a lift back to Virginia Beach. After some hemming and hawing, Dad went back in and politely asked him if he wanted a ride. My father, of course, wasn't driving, unless they make an N/A version of Johnnie Walker Black, but my stepmom doesn't drink, so she was more than happy to give a neighbor in need a safe ride home.

Bruce smiled his big smile and said, "Harry, you see that gentleman over there? He's an off-duty state trooper, and I've hired him to get me home tonight." Well played, sir. Seems you can teach an old dog new tricks.

  7. sadly, mark, that's not an intramural team - that's the varsity circa 1988-89.

  8. And as the fourth player on the 1998 3 on 3 W&M Intramural Champs, we also only got a t-shirt. Mine was a boys size medium and fit my 275lb frame beautifully at the time. I believe the phrase "looks like seven pounds of shit in a 4 pound bag" was coined in response to said shirt.

  10. Probably topped out at a little more than that. I bet on graduation day I was over 280.

  11. I never bothered to weigh Geoff but he was indeed one fat fuck the first time I met him. When I saw him again some years later (while visiting Greg) I almost didn't recognize him. Luckily, he still had the same self-assured smug look on his face so i was able to figure it out on my own. Their was a striking difference though, I even think I commented to Greg about it.
