GM Recalls 22,000 Corvettes...
...due to leaky roofs.
In a related note, the state of New Jersey is creaking to a halt. However, owners of Firebirds with T-tops are breathing a huge sigh of relief as they head to the gym to wail on their pecs.
Today on Z-Man and the Teej: Z-Man drives solo with gripes about the domestic automobile industry featuring a seance with special guest Zora Arkus-Duntov.
Too bad ND would never have the balls to do it, but I sure wish he had stuffed a pledge in a closet weeks earlier so he could coach the Irish. Pirate mythology meets Catolicism, next on Z-Man and the Teej, live from the penny slots at Mandalay Bay.
If you "chair" a faculty position, you donate an amount that can self-fund a faculty position. If you assume a Texas Tech professor makes $100 K, that means a $2 MM donation invested in munis yielding 5% after-tax will pay for that salary in perpetuity.
It's an oversimplification, but that's how it works. So after you retire from the legal profession, you can take a small chunk of your nest egg to fund the "Z-Man Memorial Professor of Law" at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Not sure if anybody has noticed how terrible the NBA's Eastern Conference is again this year, but there are 5 teams above .500. The Knicks are in 10th place, one game out of the #7 seed. If they were in the Western Conference, they would be in 14th place.
In other news of suckitude, the Nets have a winning percentage of .065.

ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, that $800 K equals almost half of what it would take to chair an important faculty position.
ReplyDeleteAt what school does an important faculty member make $1.6MM?
