Copious amount of ennui spiked with dangerous levels of work-related stress have kept Team G:TB off the scoreboard for much of the week, so our newest filler concept is doing yeoman's work.
Team: Carolina Mudcats
League: Southern (AA)
Affiliation: Cincinnati Reds
Mascot: Muddy the Mudcat
Self-Absorbed East Coast Elitist Commentary: I don't have a great deal of snark to toss Muddy's way - the Mudcats' logo is killer. I'd want some gear, as a matter of fact, if it weren't for the red/black/grey thing we've already discussed. Carry on, Mudcats, you've got the G:TB Seal of Approval.
Gheorgheness Quotient: 65/77
Muddy the Mudcat? Sounds Dummy the Dumbass to me.
ReplyDeleteagreed. he's no buster t. bison, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteand on the coaching front, i love the tony bennett hire by uva. need a little help from mark on shaka smart, just hired by vcu.
ReplyDeleteI had a Mudcats hat in college but it never broke in properly and someone (Brady?) made off with it. A very solid logo, imho.
ReplyDeleteShaka Smart just joined the UF staff last year. He came in with a pretty good resume and immediately became the staff's #1 recruiter. He's young (32), energetic and (I imagine) came highly recommended by Billy Donovan.
ReplyDeleteHe recruited large parts of the current Clemson team as well as much of the Akron team that made the tourney a few years ago (had some of Lebron's boys on the team if I recall). From my perspective it seems like a hire thats very similar to when VCU tapped Anthony Grant. Grant was more experienced but he too "relates well" to student-athletes, on a number of levels. Not sure about his ability as a game coach but I think he'll keep talent coming in to VCU.
The Tony Bennett hire is a nice one. UVA fans may be bored to death at times but they'll be at least be watching winning basketball again. On potential issue: I'm interested to see if Bennett can convince Sylvan Landesberg to stay in Charlottesville and not (a) transfer or (b) go to the NBA.
I like the Tony Bennett hire too. He's cute and he's a former PG, so he gets my endorsement.
ReplyDeleteKind of ballsy that the "Carolina" Mudcats felt big enough about themselves to take the whole part of a state name. Usually, minor league teams are in places that are barely on the map like Ogdenville, Brockway and North Haverbrook. But not the Carolina Mudcats, no they get the "state" name.
ReplyDeleteBut do they have a Monorail?
ReplyDeleteSorry Marlin but the mob has spoken...
ReplyDeletewho here loves "noodling" youtube videos as much as me? if you don't know what i'm talking about, check it out! (it is mudcat related)
ReplyDeleteSo is mark cuban buying the lakers an april fool's joke?
ReplyDeleteRob...you see your boy Wily Mo ranked in the the top 5 negative VORPs in baseball last year? Thats some fabulously sucktastic play right there.
ReplyDeleteSo, we gonna see three 2010 starters for new KY coach Calipari during this McDonalds HS game?
ReplyDeleteIts quite possible. DeMarcus Cousins is definitely going with him to UK, imo, and I think Xavier Henry and John Wall end up there as well. If he does that AND holds on to either Meeks or Patterson...well, I don't really want to think about that.
ReplyDeleteSomeone please give Carolina-bound John Henson a dozen doughnuts. He might blow away.
ReplyDeletealtidorrrrrrre!
ReplyDeletewily mo is just misunderstood. sucky and misunderstood.
Soccer is stoopid.
ReplyDeleteKeith Gallon has already won me over.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about Kenny Boynton.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Renardo Sidney would just steal any donuts that we got to John Henson...
ReplyDeletebolivia beat argentina 6-1 today. that's...unexpected.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of epic McDonald's moments, how about future Gator and Knick David Lee doing a shirtless dunk in the high school slam dunk competition. Go to the 2:50 mark of this video to see it.
ReplyDeleteMake sure to ask Julius Hodge about it the next time he waits on your table at Chili's.

Good...Fuck Argentina.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Maradona coaching Argentina now?
yes, i believe he is.
ReplyDeleteu.s. looking markedly worse in the second half. until that sweet goal by altidorrrrrrre.
Pretty goal by the US to go up 2-0 after a decent stretch of lackluster play. The announcers just said Altidore is 19 years old, but ESPN's web site says he is 22 years old. Makes you think he might be Dominican.
ReplyDeletewhat's gotten into the bobcats?
ReplyDeleteshitty goaltending, but still, altidorrrrrrre!
ReplyDeletewapo says skins are actively pursuing cutler. figures. i love the guy's talent, and really dislike everything i've seen of his personality. we had jeff george once already.
