Yawn and Stretch and Try to Come to Life

Slow absurd news day here in G:TWorld. While you wait eagerly for our next contrived and useless feature, check out William and Mary basketball coach Tony Shaver's video blog (yeah, I know even less than you what that means, but Friend of G:TB Michael Litos did the interviewing) from yesterday's CAA Basketball Media Day. Watch the whole thing - there's a terrific story about VCU coach Anthony Grant and Shaver's son, Austin from last season's CAA Tournament.

Bonus points and/or punches if you know the provenance of the headline.

  1. Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 (the song).

  2. I do love me some Dolly. And her big Partons. That movie is sneaky watchable. Especially because it allows one to reflect on the Dabney Coleman era.

  3. this new comment format pleases me way more than such a thing should.

  4. If you're wondering if I Google-cheated, well, you'd be right. But I remain a Dabney Coleman fan. He'd be in the top 5 of most under-rated comedic actors of the 1980's, along with Martin Mull.

  5. it makes me respect you more to know that you had to cheat to get that.

  6. I’m sure there have been performances better than Martin Mull’s as Ron Richardson of Schooner Tuna (the tuna with a heart), I just have not seen any.

  10. fortunately, i was unable to track down our friend the grape pusher, which saved me from making yet another moronic wager.

  11. i'd sell out tomorrow for $4400. which, judging by wall street's early numbers, would be worth about $11.

  12. The Wheeledhome is worth about $350 less than Gheorghe...so I guess accurate prognostications and smugness aren't as valuable as youtube clips, gastrointestinal updates and Napoleon complexes.

  18. Ok...well the market was down about 500 points at 10am and now its only down about 240. Based on what's been going on the past couple weeks I say it lingers around -300 for the rest of the day and then around 3:45 it plummets to minus 700.

  19. I'd say geoff's numbers are spot on... unless GW holds a press conference before 4p giving us his current economic perspective. then the downside number will have a comma in it.
