Use the Force, Teejay
Since it appears to be Birthday Week at G:TB, we salute a generational icon, born on this date in 1951. Somewhere, our friend Cliff is feeling a disturbance.
I bought Boys Will Be Boys this weekend and, though I'm only about 5 chapters in, I would highly recommend it to anyone who was a sports fan during the Cowboys' title run or anyone who enjoys stories about grown men repeatedly doing things that would land them in jail in virtually any environment outside of pro sports.
jimmy johnson was on dan patrick's show earlier today doing his best to run away from that book. 'as far as i can tell, none of that happened when i was coach'.
I am 200 pages into that book. It's quite a guilty pleasure to read. In addition to the Haley stuff, I was suprised to learn that Alvin Harper was such a freak and party animal. Not so much on Nate Newton.
Pearlman has some amazingly detailed quotes of folks ripping into Emmitt, Johnson, Jones and others. As you'd expect from watching that very hatable (but amazingly talented) bunch from the 1990's, only about 10% of the players come across like decent guys.
But that said, everyone reading this would've wanted to live like Irvin did in the 90's for one week.
No picture of Scott Hamilton for Cliffy?
ReplyDeleteAnd is there a reason why you find the smallest possible pictures to post?
ReplyDeleteSmall things make Rob comfortable.
ReplyDeleteSize matters not.
ReplyDeleteRob's not a big picture guy.

ReplyDeleteSure Jimmy, sure...
ReplyDeleteIts not the kindest portrayal of Jimmy...on a number of levels.

And most would've tried while trying to make through that week.
