TGIF

Before NBC hit us over the head for years with the "Must See TV" campaign, the braintrust at ABC provided us with some of the (ahem) best family comedies ever as part of their "Thank Goodness It's Funny" campaign, and honestly, who wouldn't find joy in the interaction of this funny talking immigrant and his anal-retentive cousin?

  1. I distinctly remember a Tuesday night craptacular pairing of Perfect Strangers -> Head of the Class.

  2. I'm not gonna lie. I really enjoyed Head of the Class as a youngster. And yes, I had a crush on Robin Givens.

  3. I stopped watching once Jawarhalal left the show.

  4. The guy who played Dennis Blundin was great in Better Off Dead. I actually loved both of these shows as a kid. They are utterly unwatchable now.

  6. Better Off Dead is one of the most underrated comedies of all time.

  7. Any time you throw Booger, Dennis Blundin, a character from M*A*S*H, the creepy guy from Fast Times and Ghost, Taylor Negron and Porky in the same flick, you're looking at comedy gold. Or a straight-to-DVD release.

  8. How is Better Off Dead underrated? Do you know anybody from our era who doesn't love it? Anyone our age who doesn't know what you mean when you quip "Two dollars!!" any time the sum of two dollars comes up in everyday conversation?

  10. I know plenty of dumb people who have never seen that movie.

  14. I bet Mark is a huuuuge fan of Balki Bartokomous.

  15. However, I will not even debate this - Bronson Pinchot's best work is as Serge...

"Donny, run and tell Miss Summers that, uh, Mister Achmed Foley is here to see her..."

  16. that's like arguing adrian peterson is better than emmitt smith. maybe at a point in time, but balki's body of work is hard to ignore.

  17. Is Balki related to Alex Bartokomous?

  18. Yes, and Swint works for both of them.

  19. I appreciated BP as Elliot Blitzer, the coke-sniffing, wire-wearing snitch in True Romance. "I wish somebody would just come and get me because I don't like this. I wish somebody would just take me away. Just take me away. Come and get me."
